Summary: After a bad breakup, a same-gender-loving man from Houston has a daughter and they start a new life on the northeast shore of Puerto Rico. At the edge of the last town and the last surviving coastal wilderness of mangrove jungle, saltwater flats, coral reefs, and unruly open ocean, father and daughter “raise each other” on the beach. A tiny community of people forms that itself feels isolated and cast adrift, each person dealing with their own unresolved issues. As the ocean begins to show worrying signs of stress and change, as each person tries to stay afloat in a passionate, paradoxical and heartbreaking world where violence and tropical paradise, the past, present and future meet.
